Veterans Innovations Program (VIP)

VIP provides grant-funded emergency financial assistance to Washington veterans who served on or after September 11, 2001 and are facing financial hardship. In FY24-25, VIP outcomes included 77 veterans transitioned to employment, 70 assisted with homelessness/eviction/foreclosure prevention, 41 utility shut-off preventions, 17 transitions to education, and 9 transportation assists.
Who qualifies
Washington resident; served on or after September 11, 2001; served under honorable conditions OR already eligible for federal VA monetary benefits OR separated with less-than-honorable characterization solely due to sexual orientation/gender identity/gender expression; experiencing financial hardship where income is not sufficient to meet basic needs; can present a discernable positive outcome; request is within grant funding capabilities; submits a complete application with required supporting documentation.

Cost
Grant program, no cost to the recipient; subject to available funding and case-by-case approval.
