WA Senior Support is a free, independent guide to senior services in Washington. We try to collect as little about you as we can. This page explains what we collect, who helps us run the service, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

If you create an account. You can browse the whole site without an account. If you sign in (by email link or with Google) to save your situation and track applications, we store your email address and, for Google sign-in, the basic identity Google returns. Signing in sets cookies that are necessary for your account and your saved tracking to work.

Your saved situation. If you fill out the optional “About your situation” form, we store what you enter: county, ZIP, age range, veteran or surviving-spouse status, whether you own your home, household size, income range, asset range, and which programs you are already on. We store income and assets as ranges, never exact amounts, and we do not ask for a Social Security number, bank or account numbers, or a date of birth.

Applications you track. For each application you choose to track, we store the program, its status and stage, any dates you add (submitted, decided, renewal due, next call), a caseworker name and phone if you enter them, a reference number, your notes, and your document checklist. This is your private tracker, and only you can see it.

The AI assistant. When you use the chat, your messages are sent to our AI provider, Google (Vertex AI), so it can write an answer. Each request also includes up to your ten most recent messages for context, and, if you are signed in, your county and your veteran and homeowner status from your saved situation. We do not send your income, assets, ZIP, notes, or caseworker details to the model. We do not store the text of your chat messages in your account; only the conversation history saved in your own browser keeps it, and you can clear that at any time.

Site analytics. We use PostHog and Vercel Analytics to see how the site is used, such as which pages people visit and whether a guide was marked helpful. These tools may set cookies and record general details like your approximate location and device type. PostHog also records a sample of visits as session replays so we can see where people get stuck; these recordings mask the page, hiding the on-screen text and anything typed into a form. This analytics activity is kept anonymous and is not linked to your account, even when you are signed in.

Feedback you send. If you use the “Was this helpful?” buttons or send a note, we keep your rating and message, the page you were on, your browser’s user-agent and referring page, and a one-way hashed form of your IP address (used to limit spam, not to identify you). You do not have to give your name or any contact information.

Quiz answers. If you use a quiz, your answers are used to show you results. We do not attach your name to them, and we do not send your quiz answers along with feedback.
