Washington Disabled Veteran Parking Permit
Washington Department of Licensing (DOL)
Veteran-specific variant of the WA disabled parking program. Eligible veterans may receive 1-2 blue placards, or 1 blue placard plus disabled veteran parking license plates or a yellow disabled veteran parking tab. Permits are valid for 5 years; plates and tabs renew annually. DOL issues a separate "veteran with disabilities parking privilege" ID card within 2-3 weeks.
Who qualifies
Veteran with a qualifying discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces who has a 70 percent or higher service-connected disability rating from the U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and uses a service animal. Both conditions are required. Applicant must provide proof of both.
What it covers
Same parking privileges as the standard WA disabled parking permit: use of designated disabled parking spaces and free on-street parking in time-restricted/metered spaces (excluding privately-owned lots and reserved zones).
Cost
Placard issuance is free for veterans. Plates and yellow tabs carry standard licensing fees. Permits are valid for 5 years; plates and tabs renew annually.
