WA DSHS Home and Community Living Administration (HCLA)
Assisted living facilities in Washington are licensed for seven or more residents and provide room and board plus help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and meals. Some also hold a state contract to provide certain service packages for residents whose care is paid by Medicaid: Assisted Living, Adult Residential Care, Enhanced Adult Residential Care, Expanded Community Services, Community Stability Supports, and Specialized Dementia Care. The state Home and Community Living Administration manages these contracts. Some facilities specialize in caring for people with mental health problems, developmental disabilities, or dementia.
